There has been a tragic accident that has claimed the life of a professional and respected co-worker.

Randy came to TRCI as a Sergeant from EOCI in August of 1998 to open the minimum housing unit. He acted as OIC of the minimum-housing unit until June 1999 when he was promoted to Lieutenant and given the responsibility for keys. In October 1999, he was promoted to Captain and given the responsibility for the start up of the housing units.

Randy was a matter of fact kind of person who held high opinions of all the staff he worked with. I appreciated his honesty and the clear manner in which he would cut through the fog and arrive at a command decision. Randy was well liked by everyone who knew him and leaves us heartbroken as a result of this accident. Randy would not want a big deal made out of what would be done in his passing. Take the time to personally remember him in your own way and how he affected your lives.

The memorial service for Randy will be at the VERT Auditorium in Pendleton, Oregon at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2000. Institution vans will be made available to transport staff to the service. Captain Rider is working with the Chaplain to establish diffusing sessions before and after roll calls and attempting to schedule a memorial service at TRCI on Wednesday.
