Shutter Creek Correctional Institution (SCCI) is located along the southern Oregon coast approximately ten miles north of Coos Bay, Oregon sitting atop a mountain.
SCCI is a Minimum custody Institution. As of January 2000 the inmate population was 250 with only 210 of its inmates housed in the secure perimeter of the main institution. Forty inmates are located at the North Bend Work Center located in downtown Coos Bay.
Shutter Creek is the home of Oregon's Boot Camp. The Boot Camp currently serves both male and female inmates and is eligible to grant time off prison sentences for inmates who successfully complete its programming. Shutter Creek also has inmate work crews that are supervised by Correctional Officers.
Local 3942 is comprised of approximately 50 Correctional Officers, Corporals and Sergeants. There are approximately 20 non-custodial staff who perform various duties including nursing, supervision of food preparation, clerical duties, counseling, etc.
